On Thursday night in Baltimore, Trevor Lawrence did what he has done all season. He stayed calm, made the throws that mattered, and let the Jacksonville Jaguars roll to a 33-10 win over the Ravens. He went 16 of 26 for 242 yards and a touchdown, and the Jaguars moved to 6-2.
It is a long way from where the season started for Lawrence. A year ago, the Jaguars were a mess, and Lawrence was hurt. Now he is the quarterback of one of the best teams in the AFC, on a $275 million contract, with a baby daughter at home. This is his story so far.

The kid from Cartersville
Lawrence was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, and grew up in Cartersville, Georgia. He started playing quarterback young, and by high school he was already the most talked-about young passer in the country. At Cartersville High School he won two state titles, and college coaches from all over the country came to watch him.
He picked Clemson. As a freshman in 2018, he took over as the starter a few games into the season and never looked back. That year he led Clemson to a national championship, beating Alabama 44-16 in the title game. He was 19 years old.

He stayed three years at Clemson and reached the national title game twice more. By the time he left, he was seen as a once-in-a-generation prospect. The Jacksonville Jaguars picked him first overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, and he signed a four-year rookie deal worth $36.8 million.
The hard years, then the turnaround
His first year in Jacksonville was rough. The Jaguars won three games, and the team was in chaos off the field too. Lawrence threw 12 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. Plenty of young quarterbacks would have been broken by a year like that. He was not.
In 2022 he turned it around. He threw for 4,113 yards and 25 touchdowns, and the Jaguars won the AFC South and a playoff game. The next year brought more injuries and a 9-8 finish, with 21 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. Then 2024 was the low point. He played hurt, threw for a career-low 2,045 yards and 11 touchdowns, and missed games.
Even so, the Jaguars believed in him. In June 2024 they gave him a five-year, $275 million extension, with $142 million guaranteed at signing. It made him one of the highest-paid players in the league.
He paid that faith back in 2025. Lawrence threw for 4,007 yards and 29 touchdowns, his best numbers yet. The Jaguars went 13-4, won the AFC South and made the playoffs. Now, in 2026, they are 6-2 after eight games, and Lawrence is playing the steadiest football of his career.
| Season | Passing yards | Touchdowns | Team record |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2021 | 3,641 | 12 | 3–14 |
| 2022 | 4,113 | 25 | 9–8 |
| 2023 | 4,016 | 21 | 9–8 |
| 2024 | 2,045 | 11 | 4–13 |
| 2025 | 4,007 | 29 | 13–4 |
Family life
Lawrence married Marissa Mowry on 10 April 2021. They had been together since high school, and she was with him through Clemson and the draft. Their daughter, Shae Lynn, was born on 4 January 2025.
He is known for his long blond hair, which has been part of his look since high school. Off the field he keeps a low profile. He does charity work in Jacksonville and stays close to his family in Georgia.

What comes next
The Jaguars have 10 days off before they visit the Tennessee Titans in Week 10, then travel to New York to face the Giants in Week 11. If Lawrence keeps playing like this, Jacksonville will be in the playoff race all season. The $275 million deal runs through 2030, so the Jaguars have built their future around him. Right now, that looks like a good call.
