Shah Rukh Khan fans have only hours to wait: the makers of King have confirmed that a new promotional asset from the film will be unveiled at midnight on November 2, right as the superstar turns 61. What exactly it will be has not been disclosed — it could be a teaser, a character poster or a song — which has only sharpened the anticipation.
The countdown was set up by director Siddharth Anand, who posted a series of cryptic one-word messages on X at midnight over consecutive nights. Put together, fans read them as: “Remember. It’s time for the world to celebrate the King of…” — with the final fragment still to come, just before the midnight reveal. Anand previously directed Khan in the blockbuster Pathaan (2023), and King is Khan’s first theatrical release since Dunki (2023).
Reports differ on the format, and none of it is officially confirmed. Bollywood Hungama has reported that a teaser is planned as a birthday gift to fans, describing a cut showing Khan “like never before” with larger-than-life dialogue. Other reports suggest the birthday drop will instead be the film’s first song, reportedly sung by Arijit Singh, with some reports also linking Ed Sheeran to the track. Until midnight, fans will have to treat both as rumours — the only confirmed facts are the timing and that something new is coming.
The birthday build-up has already taken over Mumbai: the Bandra-Worli Sea Link was lit up with Khan’s picture and a “2 days to go” message, and a giant screen has appeared on the facade of his home, Mannat, sparking speculation — again unconfirmed — that it could be used for a King projection on November 2.
Separately, Bollywood Hungama reported on Sunday that Khan personally called Yash Raj Films chief Aditya Chopra before shifting King’s overseas distribution to Phars Films, with Chopra giving his blessings. King, produced by Gauri Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment with Marflix Pictures, also stars Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan, Jaideep Ahlawat and Anil Kapoor, and is scheduled to arrive in cinemas worldwide on December 24, 2026.
Our recent trailer coverage includes Behemoth!, with Pedro Pascal as cellist Alex Serian, and Way of the Warrior Kid, with Chris Pratt as a Navy SEAL uncle, while fellow Indian star Priyanka Chopra celebrated Halloween with her family this weekend.
