Jack Lowden has finally spoken about the James Bond rumours. The Slow Horses star says all the talk is "very flattering", but he does not want to add to it.
Lowden, 36, addressed the speculation in a new interview reported by People. He said it is nice to be mentioned for any role, and he plans to stay out of the noise around the casting.
"It's all very flattering," he said. "It's nice to be mentioned, for any role, and I'm just not really going to add to the noise."
His name has been in the mix for months. In October, The Hollywood Reporter said Lowden and fellow actor Callum Turner, also 36, were among the finalists for the role. The report said both men were expected to take part in final screen tests at the end of October.
His Slow Horses co-star Gary Oldman added to the chatter in September. Oldman, 68, said on Canada's The Morning Show that the choice had already been made, even though no announcement had followed. "Because they have picked [the next Bond]. They have made their choice, but they have not announced it yet," he said. "So my fingers are crossed for Jack."
Lowden did not confirm or deny any of it. He just brushed off Oldman's prediction and kept his answer short.
The next Bond film is being made by Amazon MGM Studios, which took creative control of the franchise in 2025. Denis Villeneuve, who directed the Dune films, is set to direct. Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight is writing the script. The studio has said it will not comment on specific names during the casting process.
Daniel Craig played Bond in five films, from Casino Royale in 2006 to No Time to Die in 2021. The next film is currently set for release in 2028, according to People.
