Plot Details of the Upcoming Suspense Feature

The project pulls directly from Stine’s novel series published between 1989 and 1995. The narrative focuses on 16-year-old Jenny, who is trying to raise funds to afford a spot in an esteemed writing program. Driven by that ambition, she accepts a babysitting gig even as reports circulate of a prowler terrorizing young women throughout her community.

Jenny's situation escalates into paranoia and suspense after she begins receiving threatening telephone calls. The danger intensifies when a fugitive arrives in the area, leading the teenager to question the intentions of everyone in her vicinity as the perimeter of safety collapses around her.

Creative Team and Production Roster

The adaptation will be directed by Trevor Calverley. Screenwriter Jem Garrard, recognized for writing and directing Tubi's *Pumpkinhead*, penned the script for the feature project.

Production company Blue Ice is backing the film alongside an extensive group of producers and executive producers. The executive producing team includes Lance Samuels, Joan Waricha, Jane Stine, and Garrard. Day-to-day producers attached to the film include Dan Bernard, Yvonne Bernard, Tebogo Maila, Darren Cameron, and Adam Friedlander.

Tubi's Continuing Investment in Horror Content

The order represents a deepening relationship between Tubi and genre entertainment. Prior to greenlighting *The Babysitter*, the free ad-supported streaming service produced two *Pumpkinhead* movies, indicating a continued push into recognizable horror properties with built-in nostalgia.

By leveraging Stine's extensive library, Tubi taps into a proven audience for teen suspense and retro psychological thrillers. Further details regarding casting decisions and a specific launch window are expected closer to the project's slated 2027 arrival on the platform.
