50-cent-mocks-rick-ross-and-meek-mill-for-flopping-hard-on-their-joint-album

The G-Unit rapper reignites his beef with the MMG duo after their album Too Good To Be True fails to impress the fans and the charts.

50 Cent is not one to let go of a grudge, especially when it comes to his longtime rivals Rick Ross and Meek Mill. The rap mogul took to Twitter on Monday (Dec. 4) to poke fun at the low sales of their joint album Too Good To Be True, which debuted at No. 23 on the Billboard 200 chart with only 31,000 units sold in its first week.

In a video that recapped his recent sold-out show in London as part of his The Final Lap Tour, 50 Cent compared his ticket sales to the album sales of Ross and Meek, implying that he was more successful and relevant than them. “Oh No 31,009 [laughing emojis] you might want to spend some quiet time to strategize and reevaluate. LOL LONDON second show SOLD OUT! Newcastle tomorrow night SOLD OUT!” he wrote in the caption.

The video also featured a parody of Ross’ signature “Maybach Music” tag and his hit song “Superwoman”, as well as some jabs from 50’s G-Unit affiliates Tony Yayo and Uncle Murda. “Selling more tickets than n####s is selling in albums—WOAH!” Uncle Murda exclaimed in the clip.

Rick Ross responds to 50 Cent’s taunts with a subtle shade.

Rick Ross, who has been feuding with 50 Cent since 2009 over various issues, did not take long to respond to his nemesis’ mockery. The MMG boss posted a video on his Instagram story, showing him driving his luxury car and listening to his own music. He then zoomed in on his wristwatch and said, “Time is money, n####. And we ain’t got time to waste. We the biggest.” He also added a hashtag #MMG, referring to his record label Maybach Music Group.

Meek Mill, who has also been at odds with 50 Cent since 2016 over his beef with Drake, did not directly address 50’s diss, but he did tweet about his ownership of his masters and publishing, as well as his plans to launch his own music subscription service. He also claimed that he made $1 million from each of his recent songs, but he later deleted the tweet after fans called him out for lying.

Too Good To Be True was not well-received by critics and fans alike.

The album Too Good To Be True, which was released on November 10, 2023, was supposed to be a collaborative effort between Rick Ross and Meek Mill, two of the most prominent artists in the MMG roster. However, the project was met with lukewarm reviews and poor reception from the listeners, who criticized the lack of chemistry, originality, and creativity between the two rappers.

The album also suffered from a lack of promotion and marketing, as neither Ross nor Meek did much to hype up the release, except for a few press interviews. The lead single “Too Good To Be True”, which sampled Lauryn Hill’s classic “Ex-Factor”, failed to make any impact on the charts or the radio. The album also featured guest appearances from Drake, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, and Jay-Z, but none of them could save the album from flopping hard.

The low sales of Too Good To Be True are a stark contrast to the previous solo albums of Ross and Meek, who both have multiple platinum and gold plaques under their belts. Ross’ last album, Port of Miami 2, which came out in 2019, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart with 80,000 units sold in its first week. Meek’s last album, Championships, which came out in 2018, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with 229,000 units sold in its first week.

It seems that 50 Cent was right when he said that Ross and Meek might want to spend some quiet time to strategize and reevaluate their careers, because Too Good To Be True was anything but.
