Bollywood superstar Nawazuddin Siddiqui has said that he will stop working on series and films being made for India's growing streaming market as standard content is not being created for the platform.

According to AFP, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+ Hotstar are interested in producing movies and series for India's 1.3 billion population.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui worked in Netflix's first Indian series 'Sacred Games'. The series was released in 2018 and received worldwide acclaim.

However, 47-year-old Nawazuddin Siddiqui told Entertainment site Hungama in an interview that "the quantity has spoiled the quality" on these platforms.

He said that substandard films are being made on this platform. "We either have shows that aren't worth watching or sequels to shows that don't have much to say."

He further said that this big production house has become a fog for the actors. Renowned Bollywood filmmakers have struck lucrative deals with all the major players in the OTT sector. Manufacturers are getting huge amount of money to create unlimited content.

"The excitement and challenge I felt during the Sacred Games on digital media is no longer there," he said.

"How can I work in them when I can't afford to see them?"

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is considered a successful actor of Hindi cinema.

He belongs to a modest family in a village in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. However, he made a name for himself after moving to Mumbai, the film capital of the country, in 2000.

India's entertainment industry is already one of the largest markets in the world. It is valued at ₹24 billion by Ernst & Young's accountancy.
