Black Doves Season 2 is out now on Netflix. All six episodes dropped on Thursday, November 5. Fans can watch the whole season at once, with no weekly wait.
Keira Knightley is back as Helen Webb. This time her double life is even riskier. Her husband Wallace is now the British Prime Minister, so every secret she passes on could bring down the government she lives in.
What is Black Doves Season 2 about?
Season 2 picks up about a year after the first season. Helen is still passing her country's secrets to the Black Doves, a secret group of spies for hire. But her husband Wallace, played by Andrew Buchan, is now running the country. That puts her closer to power, and closer to getting caught.
Sam Young, played by Ben Whishaw, is back at her side. He is still her closest friend and a contract killer with a dry sense of humour. The season plays out across London and Paris, and the pair are pulled into a bigger political plot that reaches right into the heart of the organisation.
Who is in the cast?
| Actor | Role |
|---|---|
| Keira Knightley | Helen Webb |
| Ben Whishaw | Sam Young |
| Sarah Lancashire | Reed |
| Andrew Buchan | Wallace Webb, the Prime Minister |
| Neve Campbell | Cecile Mason, a US defence envoy |
| Ambika Mod | Laila |
| Sam Riley | Patrick |
| Sylvia Hoeks | Katia Chernov |
Neve Campbell is the biggest new name. She plays Cecile Mason, an American defence envoy who lands in the middle of Helen and Sam's world. It is Campbell's first big TV role since her return as Sidney Prescott was confirmed for Scream 8. Joe Barton, who created the show, is back as writer.
What are the reviews saying?
The early reviews are strong. Season 2 opened at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes from the first eight reviews, with an average score of 8 out of 10. That beats Season 1, which sits at 92% from 72 reviews.
| Outlet | Score |
|---|---|
| Rotten Tomatoes | 100% (first eight reviews) |
| Collider | 9 out of 10 |
| Filmoria | 4 out of 5 |
| ScreenRant | 7 out of 10 |
Reviewers keep coming back to the same thing. Knightley and Whishaw are as good together as ever, and their friendship is still the heart of the show. ScreenRant's own review was more mixed, calling it a slightly underwhelming return, but even it called the show a solid watch.
How did Season 1 do?
Season 1 landed on Netflix in December 2024 and was a hit straight away. It pulled in nearly 60 million hours viewed in its first week, and Netflix renewed it before it had even premiered. Knightley earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a TV Drama for her work as Helen, plus a Critics' Choice nomination.
Season 2 has the same six-episode shape as the first. All six episodes are on Netflix now, in the US, the UK and around the world.
Will there be a Season 3?
Netflix has not confirmed a third season yet. Talk of one is already building among fans, but nothing is official. For now, the six new episodes are all there is, and the ending leaves plenty of room for more.
