Dublin, Ireland – Mixed martial arts star Conor McGregor has been ordered to pay over €248,603.60 ($257,000) in damages to Nikita Hand after a jury found him liable for assault in a 2018 incident at a Dublin hote. The case has drawn significant public attention and sparked widespread controversy.
Nikita Hand, a 30-year-old colorist from Dublin, accused McGregor of "brutally raping and battering" her after a night of heavy partying. The incident occurred in a penthouse suite at the Beacon Hotel, where Hand and McGregor had gone after a Christmas work party. McGregor, who denies the allegations, claimed the encounter was consensua.
The jury deliberated for over six hours before reaching their verdict, finding McGregor liable for assault but dismissing Hand's claim against another man, James Lawrence, whom she also accused of sexual assault. McGregor's legal team argued that Hand fabricated the allegations and accused her of attempted extortion.
The verdict has led to a heated exchange on social media, with McGregor responding to internet personality Jake Paul with a homophobic slur. McGregor's wife, Dee Devlin, has remained supportive throughout the legal proceedings, often seen by his side in court.

McGregor, who plans to appeal the verdict, has faced significant backlash for his comments and behavior. The case stands as a significant moment in both Hand's life and McGregor's career, raising questions about accountability and justice in the world of sports.
