What is the Sphere?
The Sphere is a groundbreaking entertainment arena that features a 360-degree, 19,000-square-foot LED screen, a 160,000-square-foot programmable exterior surface, and a revolutionary immersive sound system that uses beamforming technology to deliver crystal-clear audio to every seat in the house.The Sphere is set to open later this year, with U2 as the inaugural act. The Irish rockers have announced 25 shows for their U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere concert residency, which will span from September to December 2023.
Why Phish?
Phish is no stranger to Las Vegas, having played several memorable shows in the city over the years, including their epic Halloween performances. The band is also known for their improvisational skills, musical diversity, and loyal fan base, making them a perfect fit for the Sphere’s innovative and immersive environment.Phish guitarist and vocalist Trey Anastasio has already been involved in testing the Sphere’s sound system, as he performed two solo acoustic shows at the Beacon Theatre in New York, another Sphere Entertainment property, in August 2022.
Phish is currently on tour, having just wrapped up a four-night run at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, where they played a themed show featuring songs referencing animals, and covered The Beatles’ “I Am The Walrus” and offered their first “Harpua” since 2017.
